New 50MW Jenbacher CHP plant will completely replace coal generation
The first of five Jenbacher gas engines is delivered to Saarbrücke, Germany. The new power plant based on five Jenbacher J920 FleXtra gas engines with a total capacity of 50 MW and an efficiency of up to 92% will completely replace coal-fired generation by 2022. Germany plans to completely phase out coal-fired generation by 2038. The new 50 MW Jenbacher CHP plant will provide electricity to more than 65,000 households and 13,000 buildings with district heating. The reduction in CO2 emissions will be about 60,000 tons per year.
