The enterprise is one of the largest producers of beverages and snacks in Ukraine. It has been operating on the market for over 20 years and is included among the country’s largest taxpayers.
In 2020, the company expanded its production capacities and began producing beer under its own brands.
The company’s products are sold not only on the domestic market but are also exported to more than 15 countries worldwide, including EU countries, the Caucasus region, the Middle East, and Asia.
The workforce exceeds 1,500 employees, and daily shipments cover thousands of retail outlets across Ukraine and abroad.
Task
The enterprise has an energy-intensive production cycle; therefore, rising electricity and heat tariffs have become a challenge to its competitiveness.
The company’s management set the following objectives:
- to ensure a stable energy supply even in the event of grid disruptions;
- to improve production energy efficiency;
- to reduce dependence on external sources of electricity.
Outcome
The optimal solution was the implementation of an on-site cogeneration power plant, enabling the simultaneous generation of electrical and thermal energy without loss of efficiency.
Following a tender process, the company selected KTS Engineering as its partner. KTS specialists proposed a containerized solution using Jenbacher JMC J620 units. Under the contract, KTS Engineering supplied the equipment, carried out commissioning works, and provides ongoing service support.
In 2025, a project was implemented to install a containerized Jenbacher JMC J620 GS-N.L. cogeneration unit operating on natural gas.
The unit ensures combined production of electrical and thermal energy, fully covering the enterprise’s peak load requirements.
The system can operate both in parallel with the external power grid and in autonomous (“island”) mode, ensuring uninterrupted production even in the event of emergency power outages across the region.
Results
- Reduced energy costs;
- Improved production energy efficiency;
- Stable energy supply even during emergency shutdowns of external grids.
Solution features
- Island operation mode. The Jenbacher J620 unit can operate autonomously or synchronously with the grid without power export, ensuring reliable power supply for critical consumers.
- High efficiency. Achieved through the combined generation of electricity and heat.
- Economic impact. The cost of generated energy is lower than market tariffs, ensuring project payback.
- Operational flexibility. The ability to operate in various modes allows the enterprise to optimize loads according to production needs.
- Digital monitoring. The installed myPlant system provides remote monitoring, performance analysis, and real-time alerts for abnormal operating conditions.
