Trostyanets confectionery factory is a Ukrainian enterprise, which is part of an international group of companies. It has production facilities in Sumy and Kyiv regions.
The factory in Trostyanets is one of the most powerful in Ukraine and carries out a full cycle of processing cocoa beans. The products manufactured at the Trostyanets factory are sold both on the domestic market and exported outside the country. In addition, the company actively pays attention to the social needs of the local community of Trostyanets, contributing to the support of hospitals, schools, kindergartens and sports organizations.
Task
The Sumy region suffered significant damage as a result of the Russian military invasion. Many infrastructure facilities and enterprises in the region have undergone partial or complete destruction.
The Trostyanets confectionery factory was also no exception and was damaged during the occupation by Russian troops. Nevertheless, after the liberation of the Sumy region from the invaders, the management of the enterprise decided to restore its activities.
The company’s management had to solve not only the issue of restoring production, but also to overcome the problem of interruptions in the energy supply of the enterprise. The destruction of the energy infrastructure of the region led to interruptions in the energy supply of the enterprise.
The solution to the issue of providing a reliable source of energy supply for the enterprise was its own generation of energy.
Outcome
In January 2023, a contract was signed with KTS Engineering for the supply of a gas-piston cogeneration plant with an electric power of 2 MW and a thermal power of 1,084 MW to provide the Trostyanets confectionery factory with energy for its own consumption.
In May 2023, the equipment was delivered to the enterprise. In June 2023, KTS Engineering specialists carried out commissioning and commissioning of the equipment. In addition, our engineering team carried out work to ensure the operation of the Jenbacher power plant in island mode in parallel with the public grid without power transfer.
The mode of operation in parallel with the general power grid without power overflow allows the enterprise to produce its own cheaper energy, and during a network outage, the transition of the installation to the emergency mode “island mode” allows the enterprise to receive a guaranteed supply of energy, eliminates the losses of the enterprise in case of loss of raw materials and production failures that occur when the electric power is turned off.
Solution features
- Island mode. The new Jenbacher equipment provides a reliable power supply to the enterprise due to the ability to work in “island mode” and parallel operation with a common power grid without power transfer. This ensures the stability and continuity of the enterprise even in the event of a power outage..
- Economic effect. The introduction of the new Jenbacher equipment brought a significant economic benefit to the confectionery factory by reducing the cost of electricity. Implementation of in-house generation made it possible to significantly increase the energy efficiency of the enterprise and reduce operating costs.
- The speed of project implementation. Thanks to a team of KTS Engineering specialists with commissioning competence, INNIO support, the project of its own energy center for the confectionery factory was implemented in the shortest possible time – less than 6 months from the moment the contract was signed to the commissioning of the equipment.
